Jun 29, 2018

Guelph, ON  – The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO) offers congratulations to newly appointed provincial cabinet ministers.

“We welcome the Honourable Ernie Hardeman as Minster for Agriculture, Food and Rural affairs,” commented CFFO President Clarence Nywening. “Hardeman’s previous experience both as minister for agriculture and agriculture critic will be beneficial at this crucial time for the industry.”

The CFFO will be bringing policy concerns to the notice of other key ministries, including Finance; Environment, Conservation and Parks; Natural Resources and Forestry; Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade; and Municipal Affairs and Housing.

The CFFO will continue to encourage elected officials to recognize and support farmers’ stewardship efforts as an important contributor to the long-term economic and environmental health of the province. As during the election campaign, CFFO’s executive board and district leaders will continue to promote key issues for agriculture, including agri-food sector success, farmland preservation, and water and soil stewardship.

“The CFFO believes in working toward policy outcomes that are good for society, the environment, and the economy,” says Nywening. “We look forward to promoting our perspective to members of the new Cabinet and our rural MPPs.”

The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO) is a professional organization for families called to the vocation of farming. The CFFO values family farm enterprise, profitability, and responsible stewardship of resources. CFFO policy promotes economically, socially and environmentally sustainable farming, advocating that farmers receive fair return for their production and stewardship efforts.
