Capitol Conservation District Local Work Group Meetings Scheduled, June 1 and June 6

The Capitol Conservation District in cooperation with NRCS will convene local work group meetings to discuss conservation programs for 2023-2024 and provide guidance for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

The Capitol Conservation District in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will convene local work group meetings to discuss conservation programs for 2023-2024 and provide guidance for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

The first meeting will be held Thursday, June 1 at 6:00 p.m. at Coonskin Park in the Coonskin Clubhouse, 375 Henry C. Hoppy Shores Dr. Charleston, WV. The second meeting will be held at the same location on Tuesday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. The first meeting will focus on local producers, farmers, urban & rural cooperators. The second meeting will focus on our agency and business partners.

The local work group includes representatives from cooperating federal, state, and local conservation organizations and is open to all farmers, agricultural producers, and forest owners/managers. If you have thought about applying for one of the programs NRCS has to offer or have questions about what might be available to you, this meeting is a great opportunity for you to learn more. As part of NRCS’s locally led process of administering programs, public comments will be sought from attendees on how to best prioritize USDA dollars for your local area.

The Capitol Conservation District covers Kanawha County. Corine Powell, Acting NRCS District Conservationist, and her staff work from the NRCS field office in Cross Lanes to cover the county.
