The Canadian Produce Marketing Association is urging the federal government to quickly ratify the new NAFTA.
The plea comes after the new deal was passed by the US Senate on Thursday. It's already been approved by Mexico.
The association says that since the first NAFTA came online in 1994, Canadian fresh fruit and vegetable exports to Mexico and the US increased by nearly 400 per cent. It says this growth is indicative of the importance of tariff-free trade and the integration of the Canadian marketplace within North America.
