Canadian Grain Stocks Down From Last Year

Sep 08, 2016

Canadian stocks of wheat and canola are larger than analysts anticipated, but still well below the levels of one year ago.

Statistics Canada estimates canola supplies at 2 million tons as of July 31st, a drop of 21 percent from the same date in 2015.

On-farm canola stocks are estimated at 915-thousand tons, with commercial stocks at 1.1 million tons.

StatsCan also raised its estimate of the 2015 canola harvest to 18.4 million tons to help account for the extra supplies.

StatsCan pegs all-wheat stocks at 5.2 million tons, down 27 percent from a year ago.
