Canada's engagement: Minister Bibeau to visit Africa

Aug 29, 2016

The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, today announced that she will visit three African countries in late August.

The Minister will meet with the heads of state and government, as well as partners in the field, and will announce projects related to education, health and good governance. She will also have the opportunity to speak with women’s groups involved in their communities concerning progress in issues related to the rights and health of women and girls.

While in Africa, the Minister will visit development projects funded by Canada and implemented in the field by local and Canadian partners. These projects help strengthen the empowerment of women, give young people access to quality education and assist farmers in coping with threats to food security posed by climate change.

This will be Minister Bibeau’s first official trip to Africa.
