The health aspect of beef is being featured with the gateway, as Canada Beef has worked with dieticians.
"The diet and wellness section of the whole platform is put together by registered dietitians. What they've done is sort through the recipes that are part of the Information gateway and they've broken them into topics that are either diets of concern to people or diets of interest. “
“So for example, there are heart-friendly recipes, diabetes-friendly recipes, recipes marked that are gluten-free, and if you need to avoid allergens, there's actually a whole collection of recipes that are identified with their allergens too, so it's got information about how these can be a part of a healthy diet.”
The variety of recipes displayed in the gateway is in an effort to resemble the diversity already present in Canada.
"We actually looked at Statistics Canada data and there are actually over 250 ethnic origins now here in the Canadian population. So we wanted to pay tribute to that and we've identified 10 cuisines that we focused on for this world cuisine platform.”
“They're also based on what we know consumers are interested in as far as restaurants and recipe searches, that type of thing. So we've carved out this section that includes Middle Eastern cuisine, Thai cuisine, Caribbean recipes, and even highlighted indigenous recipes based on the recognition that these were our first Canadians here and that deserves to be represented in a recipe collection.”
