Bunge has struck a deal to acquire the grain elevator assets of North West Terminal Ltd. (NWT) near Unity SK.
Announced Monday, the proposed $27-million transaction includes the inland grain elevator and associated storage infrastructure, while NWT will continue to operate its fermentation and distillation facility at the site.
The Unity grain facility is among the largest in Western Canada, with 63,000 tonnes of storage, full cleaning and drying capabilities, and service from both major railways, CPKC and CN.
“We look forward to integrating this efficient, high throughput facility into our industry-leading grain asset network,” Kyle Jeworski, head of Bunge in Canada, said in a statement. He added that Bunge plans to make targeted investments to maximize the terminal’s potential while becoming an active employer and community contributor in the region.
