Biographies: Appointments to the Canadian Grain Commission

 

 

Mr. Doug Chorney is an accomplished leader in the agricultural sector and holds extensive experience and expertise in the areas of strategic planning, policy development, and stakeholder relations.

 

Mr. Chorney was first appointed to the Canadian Grain Commission in February 2017 and has assumed the role of Acting Chief Commissioner since June 2020. Prior to joining the Canadian Grain Commission, Mr. Chorney was a Farm operator and grain producer for twenty-four years.

 

Mr. Chorney is also an experienced board member and has served on multiple boards throughout his career including being the president of Keystone Agricultural Producers from 2011 to 2015. He also served on the Advisory Council on Workplace Safety and Health, the Manitoba Employers Council, and the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.

 

Mr. Chorney holds Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Manitoba and has been a Member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba since 1989.

 

 

Ms. Patty Rosher is an accomplished business professional with over twenty-five years of working experience in the agricultural sector which has led her to develop strong decision-making, communication, research, and critical-thinking skills.

 

Ms. Rosher comes to the Canadian Grain Commission after having worked as the General Manager for Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP) since March 2019. Prior to her work with KAP, Ms. Rosher worked for the Department of Manitoba Agriculture where she held multiple leadership positions including being the Acting Chief Operating Officer of the Food Development Centre in 2016-2017, the Director of Transformation in 2017-2018, and the Director of Policy in 2018-2019.

 

Ms. Rosher also has extensive board experience. She is currently the Vice Chair of Genome Prairie and has served as the Treasurer of the Robert A Steen Community Centre, the President of a Winnipeg Condominium Corporation, and the Chair of Mediation Services Winnipeg.

 

Ms. Rosher grew up on a farm in Eatonia, Saskatchewan and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Saskatchewan, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Manitoba.
