Beef Cow-Calf Workshops Scheduled September 16th And 18th In West Central Wisconsin

UW-Extension and The Western Wisconsin Beef Producers Cooperative will be hosting Beef Cow-Calf workshops at the Leon Community Center in Leon on September 16th and at the Scott Werlein Farm in Mondovi on September 18th.

Topics that will be covered at the workshops include:

“Bull Health and Fertility Management” presented by Heather Schlesser, UW-Extension Agriculture Agent – Marathon County and Sandy Stuttgen, DVM, UW-Extension Agent – Taylor County. Learn what you should be testing for, monitoring, and how bull management can improve his fertility and your bottom line.

“2014-15 Winter Feeding Considerations for the Herd” presented by Bill Halfman, UW-Extension Agriculture Agent – Monroe County.  The presentation will present current information on feed supplies and costs to help producers look at economically feeding the herd through the winter.

The workshop on Tuesday, September 16th will be held at the Leon Community Center, located at 20638 Jameson Road in Leon.  The September 18th workshop will be held at the Scott Werlein Farm, W356 County Road Z in Mondovi.

The Leon Community Center workshop will begin with registration and a complimentary dinner starting at 5:45 p.m. The presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m., and should conclude at 8:00 p.m. To register for the Leon Community Center location contact one of the following Extension Offices by September 12th: La Crosse County at 608-785-9593 or Monroe County at 608-269-8722.

The Scott Werlein Farm workshop will begin with complimentary refreshments and presentations starting at 7:00 p.m., and should conclude at 8:30 p.m. To register for the Scott Werlein Farm location, contact the Buffalo County Extension Office at 608-685-6256 by September 12th.
