Runaway bull blocks traffic on Highway in BC
Traffic on a major highway in British Columbia came to a sudden stop on Saturday, August 16, in the afternoon when a bull on the loose wandered into the middle of Highway 11, blocking both directions.
Abbotsford police confirmed in a social media post that officers and emergency crews quickly responded to the unusual situation to protect motorists and ensure public safety.
Police worked closely with the bull’s owner in an effort to calm and remove the animal. For several hours, traffic in the area was disrupted as crews attempted to carefully manage the situation without causing harm. Drivers were asked to avoid the highway to allow emergency vehicles through.
A veterinarian was called to the scene to assist in safely handling the bull. The animal was tranquilized successfully, and officials confirmed that it was not injured in the process. Crews then carefully loaded the bull into a trailer for transport back to its home.
