Join Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Wheat Program for one of two regional wheat field days on May 23 or May 25, 2023, in Huron and Isabella counties. These are in addition to Michigan Wheat Program’s annual summer field day, which is set for Wednesday, June 14.
These regional field days are designed to be a little more informal for a shorter time and with a smaller group, allowing more one on one interaction with Eric Olson, MSU wheat breeder, and Dennis Pennington, MSU Extension wheat specialist. These will be held in the field at two of our state wheat variety trials in Huron County and Isabella County, allowing you to walk a local variety trial and talk with those who are managing it. Updates on current research projects in wheat will be discussed. If you have any poor-looking wheat, please feel free to bring in a sample with you and Olson and Pennington will help you determine what the issue is.
The first field day will be held Tuesday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hauck Seed Farms in Isabella County. The field is located on Zeien Road a quarter mile north of Beal City Road on the east side of the road.
