Pursell Agri-Tech of Sylacauga is one of two Tier-1 winners of the Next Gen Fertilizer Innovations Challenge through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
As a Tier-1 winner, Pursell Agri-Tech and entrant Taylor Pursell receive $17,500 for Urea 2.0, which replaces the conventional urea core with a customizable mixture of materials to tailor fertilizers to local needs.
Dr. Christopher Hendrickson of Aqua-Yield Operations LLC in Draper, Utah, also won $17,500 for a nano-smart fertilizer.
The competition seeks to improve fertilizer efficiency through novel technologies that increase crop yields while reducing environmental impacts.
