AGCO and Cat® Dealers Launch Harvest Solutions

Feb 23, 2009

Grain producers now have an efficient, affordable alternative to purchasing expensive combines. Two of the most trusted names in agricultural equipment, AGCO Corporation and Cat® dealers, have teamed up to form Harvest Solutions.

The new combine rental company features the proven AGCO equipment and the industry-leading service of select Cat dealers. The development of this new business supports AGCO’s strategic initiative to become a dominant player in the North American agricultural machinery marketplace while constantly improving in all facets of its business.

"The demand for Harvest Solutions is the result of the increasing costs of production, tighter margins for producers and demand for greater efficiencies throughout agriculture,” says Doug Griffin, AGCO’s Vice President, North America Marketing.

Renting a combine from Harvest Solutions may fit a certain segment of the market and is much more affordable than buying a new one. It eliminates the costs, hassles and risks associated with equipment ownership and utilization. “We wanted to create an opportunity for farmers to access new combine technology without having to leverage their farms or tie up large amounts of capital,” Griffin says.

Harvest Solutions will be based in Kansas City, Mo., with major staging facilities in each partnering Cat dealer market area. Select Cat dealers will support Harvest Solutions by managing the business and providing the high level of service that customers demand during the busy harvest season.

Along with guaranteed on-time delivery of machines, Harvest Solutions promises fast in-field service supported by the partnering Cat dealers. A toll-free service number will be answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the season, with Cat dealers providing in-field service.

"Our customers can vary from a large acre producer who requires three or four machines but does not want to deal with the hassles associated with owning several machines, to a group of producers who are sharing a combine to get their crops harvested,” Griffin explains.

Renting from Harvest Solutions means producers no longer must pay for a piece of equipment that sits in the shed for most of the year.

“The concept of paying for a piece of equipment only when you need it is not new,” he says. “It is done in virtually every industry. We see long-term demand within the ag market to utilize this type of approach to manage the bottom line. Harvest Solutions is farmer-focused. We're committed to the farmer and take seriously our promise to provide a combine on their specified delivery date.”

The combine fleet includes the all-new, redesigned Class VII combine - Challenger 670B. The 670B leads the way with unmatched productivity and improved features that help producers harvest more acres in less time. Challenger designed the 670B combine to be the most productive grain-handling system among Class VII machines. The unloading system features the industry’s fastest rate, 35 percent faster than the nearest competition.

“When growers select Harvest Solutions, they get the backing and support of the legendary network of Cat dealers... who take their customers' productivity to heart,” Griffin says.

The mission of Harvest Solutions is to build long term relationships with customers, founded on trust, generating mutual growth and success.
