LONOKE, Ark. -- Extension rice and soybean agronomists, weed, soil and plant pathology experts will be on hand Jan. 5 for the annual Ag Day at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s Ag Center in Lonoke.

“This meeting will provide producers the most up-to-date and unbiased research to help them make the most informed decisions for their farming operations,” said Keith Perkins, Lonoke County extension agent for the U of A’s Division of Agriculture.

The meeting opens at 8:30 a.m. and is being held at the Ag Center at 2001 U.S. 70 East in Lonoke.

There is no charge to attend and the meeting will include a free lunch. For more information, or to register, contact Keith Perkins at kperkins@uaex.edu or 501-671-3124.

“As my Dad would say, nothing stays the same and you have to keep up with what is new coming down the pike or you will be left behind,” he said. “If it wasn’t for Extension education  meetings like these that present new data for our changing situations, we would still be farming with mules and yields would not keep increasing.

This year’s agenda includes: Rice Agronomist Jarrod Hardke, Soybean Agronomist Jeremy Ross, Weed Scientist Bob Scott, Plant Pathologist Yeshi Wamishe and Soil Scientist Leo Espinoza all with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.
