Below are pictures from one of our on farm Telone plots at the Boyette’s. Telone was applied June 3rd. Cotton was planted on June 9. 22 days after planting you can already see a difference in where the Telone was applied. Like many fields in Appling County, this field has been in a peanut/cotton rotation for multiple years. Even in a peanut/cotton rotation, using a nematicide like Telone can pay off. The first 40 days is the most critical period in cotton production. Infections by nematodes during the first forty days can be very detrimental to root development, vigor, and earliness. With the potential for significant loss of yield and fiber quality at the end of the season, the need for prevention is important. Nematode damage is much more costly than many growers recognize. Nematodes collectively are responsible for yield losses that exceed $400 million annually across the Cotton Belt.
