Following the 2015 consultation, the Canadian Grain Commission continued discussions with affected value chain stakeholders including breeders, variety owners, grain companies, producer groups, and Cereals Canada.
On January 15, 2016, the Canadian Grain Commission announced the implementation of the Canada Northern Hard Red and Canada Western Special Purpose wheat classes. These classes came into effect on August 1, 2016.
