January, February and March each have farm shows
January 2025 is approaching, and the first three months of the new year has multiple farm shows available for producers interested in learning and networking.
In January, for example, is the series of Ontario Agricultural Conferences.
They start on Jan. 7 and 8 with the Southwest Agriculture Conference at the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown Campus.
This two-day event will include discussions on factors that drive 100 bu. soybeans, the top disease issues of 2024 including tar spot, and how to set up your farm to add winter canola into your crop mix.
On Jan. 17, the Midwest Ag Conference takes over the RIM Park Manulife Sportsplex in Waterloo.
This one-day conference has multiple presentations related to precision agriculture.
This includes leveraging precision ag to address agronomic problems, the future of precision agronomy and transforming data into management.
Then on Jan. 21, the Parish Hall Kemptville Campus hosts the Eastern Ontario Crop Conference.
Speakers at this show will discuss simple strategies to help farmers increase the value of production over time, and provide a roundup of the latest research in eastern Ontario focused on improving nitrogen fertilizer in corn.
Moving to February, the National Poultry Show takes place on the 5 and 6 at The Agriplex in London.
The show page indicates multiple companies will be showcasing new products during the event.
For those who want to get an early start on the show, the 2025 exhibitor floorplan is available.
The genetics, biosecurity, processing and manure management industries will all be represented at the show.
Later in February, the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention takes place on the 19 and 20 at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre.
This event features multiple presentations on a wide variety of topics.
Some of the discussion themes include grower experiences with robotics and technology, communicating about food and farming, and updates on the WSIB’s foreign agricultural worker strategy and how that impacts employers.
Then, in March, the London Farm Show descends on The Agriplex in London from March 5 to 7.
The show’s website indicates multiple companies will have new products to showcase at the 2025 event.
No schedule for the 2025 list of speakers and demonstrations is available yet.
During the 2024 show though, attendees listened to presentations about ag robotics, building a mental health toolbox, and got to witness a drone demonstration.
Later in March, the Ottawa Valley Farm Show takes place at the EY Centre from March 11 to 13.
The 2025 show schedule hasn’t been released yet.
But in 2024, attendees received a commodity market outlook and had the opportunity to visit 360 exhibitors.
