The United States’ second-largest exporter of dairy products, Washington, saw a 34 percent increase in the export of dairy products over the last three years. According to the Washington State Department of Agriculture, in 2011 the sate exported more than $261 million worth of dairy products. One of the driving factors for the rise in dairy exports is the demand in the Asian market – while many of these countries don’t have the infrastructure or the climate to increase their own domestic milk production and turn to the U.S for more supply.Washington is the second largest dairy exporter behind California.
