It’s a one of a kind program that seeks to foster leadership skills for those involved Canada’s beef cattle industry – the Cattlemen’s Young Leaders program (CYL). The program is accepting online applications for its mentorship opportunity for those between the ages of 18-35. Applications will be accepted up until Jan. 25, 2013. The CYL offers two main streams of mentorship – a professional mentorship geared towards those who are enrolled in post-secondary education or those who have just started their careers. While the second stream - the leader mentorship is designed for beef producers who are interested in enhancing their leadership skills. Semi-finalists will be selected to participate in a round-table discussion event, where the winners will be selected. Winners will be matched up with a mentor for one year, will be given a $2,000 budget to fund their participation in the program to attend a number of industry events and provide assistance to their professional development aspirations for the year. One of the program’s main goals is to cultivate industry leaders for Canada’s beef sector.
