Tractors from several brands on the list
1) John Deere introduces new 6R Series tractors
At the National Farm Machinery Show in February, attendees got a firsthand look at John Deere’s 6R Series tractors.
The lineup includes 10 models ranging from 110 to 215 horsepower.
2) Kubota developing hydrogen tractors by 2025
In June, Kubota announced it will debut the world’s first hydrogen-powered fuel cell tractor by 2025.
Kubota is looking to develop a series of medium to large fuel cell tractors each capable of outputting 50 to 100 horsepower.
3) Assiniboine Community College offering free ag equipment operator program
In January, Assiniboine Community College in Manitoba announced it would welcome 15 Indigenous people living off-reserve to participate in its Ag Equipment Operator Program.
The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples funded the 14-week program.
4) Case IH combine sells at auction after more than 400 bids
In March, a 2020 Case IH 9250 combine sold for the highest price out of 2,673 items sold during an equipment auction.
The combine from McDougal, Ark., sold to a buyer in Missouri for US$363,750 (CAD$455,668) after 402 bids.
5) Degelman launches new product at Canada’s Farm Show
In June at Canada’s Farm Show in Regina, Sask., Degelman launched its Pro-Cast precision granulator applicator.
Growers can use it for “fertilizer, herbicide and some farmers might even put seed into it if conditions are too wet and they want to do some cover crops,” Sheldon Mohr, vice president of sales and marketing with Degelman, told Farms.com. “We’ve had some in the fields already and the results have been very positive for us.”
6) U.K. farmers provide tractor guard of honour for late Queen
In September, Scottish farmers paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II with a tractor guard of honour as her coffin passed by the Aberdeenshire countryside on its way to Balmoral Castle in Edinburgh.
7) John Deere moving tractor cab production to Mexico
In June, John Deere revealed it is moving tractor cab manufacturing from Waterloo, Iowa to its components plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico during the 2024 fiscal year.
The manufacturer cited two reasons for the move: balancing workforce needs and helping the Waterloo facility open space to manufacture new products.
About 250 jobs could be affected by the move.
8) AGCO shows off Fendt IDEAL 10T combine at National Farm Machinery Show
Visitors of the National Farm Machinery Show experienced something big when visiting the Fendt booth.
AGCO Corporation showed off the Fendt IDEAL 10T combine, which stands out from other combines for reasons other than its black paint job.
The combine boasts 790 maximum engine horsepower, a 485-bushel grain tank and is able to unload bushels at a rate of six bushels per second.
9) Buyers make John Deere combine top seller at equipment auction
In February, a John Deere combine sold for the highest price out of the 1,418 pieces of equipment sold during an auction.
The 2017 John Deere S670 combine from Gridley, Kan., sold for US$239,500 (CAD$303,964) to a buyer from Texas after 230 bids.
10) Kubota’s new L Series tractors
In March, Kubota announced two new compact tractors would be available at dealers in Spring 2022.
The L3302F/DT/HST and L3902D/DT/HST tractor models feature all important comfort features, a new design, and include an option for independent PTO on HST models—and are known by Kubota as the L02 tractors.
