$3.67 Million invested in weed management
Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) has pledged over $3.67 million to five weed science research projects for pulse crops. This initiative, running from 2025 to 2029, continues SPG’s long-term commitment to enhancing weed management in agriculture.
The research focuses on developing robust weed control strategies, expanding herbicide options, and exploring innovative methods such as tank mixing and layering.
Cultural techniques will be investigated to manage weeds like kochia in saline areas, reduce weed seed banks, and address weed escapes.
One study explores directed energy technologies, such as blue light and mid-wave infrared light, to neutralize weed seeds during harvest.
