The processing plant in Swift Current handles multiple crops.
The plant, located at 717 South Railway Street West, can process green peas, yellow peas and canary seed. And upgrades to the facility allows it to process higher volumes of all red and green lentil varieties.
Simpson Seeds will now “continue to grow in our Moose Jaw location,” the Oct. 11 notice says.
The buyers of the Swift Current facility, Monette Farms, produces multiple crops.
Its farmers grow wheat, barley, canola and pulse crops, and raise livestock as well.
“We farm a combination of owned and rented land as well as several customized contract farming agreements,” Monette’s website says.
The organization has farms in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and B.C. It also farms on land in Arizona and Montana.
Farms.com has contacted Monette Farms and Simpson Seeds for comment on this transaction.
