Ontario PC Ag Survey Finds Red Tape Top Concern for Farmers

By , Farms.com

The Ontario PC’s launched an agriculture survey at the end of July to identify the top issues facing farmers. While the survey isn’t over, the Ontario PC Agriculture Critic Ernie Hardeman has said that out of the 250 respondents to date, 76 per cent of farmers have indicated that red tape is at the top of their concerns.

"Our job is to make sure that government is not an inhibitor to growth and job creation in rural Ontario," Hardeman said. “As we move forward, we're going to be developing plans for what we would do if we had the privilege of being the government of Ontario.

"We're finding out here today there's a lot of things that could be done to make job creation and build our rural economy much better than we're presently doing," Mr. Hardeman said.

Ontario PC MPP’s are encouraging farmers to participate in the survey so that they can share their concerns, experiences and suggest possible solutions. The results of the survey will be an important resource for the Ontario PC’s to hold the government to account and work towards strengthening the province’s agriculture industry.

If you are an Ontario farmer and haven’t had a chance to provide your input, the online agriculture survey can be accessed from the following link:
