Ontario Pork welcomes Philippines delegation to discuss pork industry
Ontario Pork recently welcomed a delegation from the Philippines Department of Agriculture, marking an important step in promoting global collaboration in the livestock sector. The visit aimed to exchange insights about pork production, animal health, and the ongoing innovations within Ontario’s pork industry.
Ontario Pork Chair Tara Terpstra and Vice Chair TJ Murray extended a warm welcome to the delegation, which included key officials such as Dr. Constante Palabrica, Undersecretary for Livestock; Mary Anne Christine R. Baltazar; and Dr. Claro N. Mingala. The group was given an overview of Ontario’s pork production system, highlighting sustainability, biosecurity, and quality assurance standards that make Canadian pork globally recognized for its excellence.
The visit provided the delegation an opportunity to observe how producers, processors, and policymakers collaborate to maintain food safety, animal welfare, and economic growth within the province’s pork industry.
Discussions also focused on opportunities for knowledge sharing, technical cooperation, and potential trade partnerships to enhance mutual growth.
