Organizers are finalizing the details for the second annual Northern Ontario Ag Conference.
The event, hosted by the Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance (NOFIA) and the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA), is scheduled for Feb. 12 and 13, 2020 at the Northbury Hotel & Conference Centre in Sudbury, Ont.
The 2020 conference will build on the success of the 2019 event, which focused on starting an agribusiness, product marketing and support programs.
The 2020 theme of “Sharing Knowledge, Growing Together” is an indication of how collaborative efforts in the industry benefit everyone, said Cameron Ford, marketing and development coordinator with NOFIA.
“These kinds of events are very important,” he told Farms.com. “All the producers who attend will come away with more knowledge as they listen to their peers discuss their farm challenges and solutions. It’s especially important to hold these events in northern Ontario where we don’t have as many farmers and opportunities to bring all these people together.”
Event planners are organizing a lineup of speakers.
The presenters will represent different sectors of agriculture and health, Ford said.
“We have speakers from OSCIA, OMAFRA, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, and one speaker to discuss food security in northern Ontario,” he said. “We’re also looking to secure someone to discuss mental health in the industry, which is a very important topic right now.”
More information, including ticket prices and the event schedule, will be published on NOFIA’s website as it becomes available.
