MASC program deadline extended to January 10
The USDA has announced important updates to its Marketing Assistance for Specialty Crops (MASC) program, providing critical support to specialty crop growers facing increasing production and marketing costs.
The agency has raised the payment limit per operation from $125,000 to $900,000 and extended the application deadline to January 10, 2025.
This substantial increase in payment limitations reflects the USDA's response to ongoing advocacy efforts by agricultural leaders seeking more robust support for specialty crop producers. "NPC has been advocating for a meaningful increase in the payment limitations since the program’s announcement, and we are pleased that USDA has responded to our recommendations," expressed NPC CEO Kam Quarles.
The MASC program enhancements include an additional allocation of $650 million, raising the total available funds to $2.65 billion.
