About 170 engineers spent one million development hours and 200,000 validation hours to create Massey Ferguson’s new tractor line.

On Friday, the equipment manufacturer unveiled its new 8S series of tractors.

Massey Ferguson employees built these machines on the concepts of comfort, traction, efficiency, reliability, ease of use and power, a company spokesperson said during a livestreamed product reveal.

The lineup consists of four models ranging from 205 to 265 hp: the MF8S.205, 8S.225, 8S.245 and the 8S.265, which is the most powerful tractor in the lineup.

The series offers three kinds of transmissions. The Dyna 7 and the Dyna E-Power are currently available, and the company will roll out its Dyna-VT transmission in 2021.

The tractors feature Massey Ferguson’s new Protect-U design.

The engine and cab installations are separate, providing operators with greater visibility and comfort, and only 68 decibels of noise. The cab is 3.43 cubic metres (121 cubic feet) in size.

Inside the cab, farmers will find the Datatronic 5 touchscreen terminal which they can use for tractor functions like variable rate control. In addition, the MFvDisplay is located along the operator’s sightline, putting all vital tractor information in front of the user.

The tractor includes 16 LED working lights for nighttime operation.

When it comes to precision ag, Massey Ferguson provides 8S owners with tools to help ensure maximum efficiency.

Users will receive three-year subscription to MF Connect, which allows farmers to remotely track machine data.

Producers can use AgriRouter to transfer field prescription data to and from the field using the cloud.

Anyone interested in taking a virtual tour of the Massey Ferguson 8S can do so on the company’s website.
