State's cranberry growers anticipate fruitful harvest season
Optimism is in the air for Massachusetts’ cranberry growers as the 2024 crop forecast looks promising. The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service projects a harvest of 2.2 million barrels for the state, a notable increase of 12% from the previous year. Across the U.S., the total cranberry production is expected to reach 8.24 million barrels, showing a growth of 2%.
Brian Wick, Executive Director of Massachusetts Cranberries, noted the growers' cautious optimism given the recent challenging weather conditions. Still, with skilled management and good weather, Massachusetts is on track for a successful harvest season.
