Smart tractor and spreader system improves accuracy and reduces operator effort

Fertilizer spreading plays an important role in healthy crop growth, and making this process easier and more accurate brings direct benefits to farmers. Kubota’s GEOSPREAD technology uses the RotaFlow system to place fertilizer in the right amount and at the right location.

With weighing technology and one-meter section control, the system avoids overlap and helps maintain uniform crop feeding.

Kubota takes this efficiency further with its Tractor Implement Management (TIM) technology, now combined with the DSX-W GEOSPREAD TIM spreader. This new solution allows the spreader to control key tractor functions. Using two height sensors and a special hydraulic top link, the spreader maintains a constant distance of about 30 inches or 75 centimeters from the target area.

It also ensures the right inclination and keeps the spreading discs rotating at the correct speed. As a result, operators do not need to adjust basic settings, allowing them to stay focused on productivity and safety.

The approach is simple: the tractor and implement work together in real time. TIM technology continuously monitors conditions and adjusts performance based on the weight in the hopper and field changes. This ensures accurate fertilizer distribution across different farm sizes and field shapes.

All TIM-equipped machines are Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) certified, giving farmers confidence that ISOBUS-connected devices will operate smoothly through plug-and-play communication.

Farmers using the system report improved spreading quality, reduced fatigue, and greater comfort, especially on large farms.
