“True Speed is a way for (the planter) to hold the seed and take it all the way to the trench with high accuracy at any speed,” Eric Broadbent, director of North American sales with Kinze, told Farms.com. “We also wanted to keep this very simple and user-friendly.”
Farmers have been challenged in recent years with shorter planting windows. And those working days can become even shorter as a result of unpredictable weather.
Ensuring producers can work quickly while not sacrificing singulation is important, Broadbent said.
“Any time you increase speed it can add stress onto the planter,” he said. “But it isn’t all about speed. This is a planter-wide solution that helps farmers maintain accuracy with seed depth and control. Whatever a farmer is trying to achieve, they will achieve with this system.”
True Speed also helps complement Kinze’s True Depth downforce technology and Blue Vantage display, Broadbent added.
Farmers have the opportunity to see True Speed before its commercial release.
Kinze will display the product at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Ky., in February.
The equipment manufacturer will spend this year performing more tests and refining True Speed before it becomes available.
“We’re under a robust testing process and we will continue that,” Broadbent said. “We’ll continue to develop the product and do research and, if there are any improvements that we can make, we’ll do that.”
Kinze developed the equipment together with Ag Leader Technology. Ag Leader will market the product as SureSpeed and sell it through its respective dealer network.
