John Deere has delivered a mid-year upgrade to its 2023 7R tractor.

Along with new updates and options, the revised 7R provides operators with a reactive steering mode for better control during the on-road transport of materials.

Already designed for tight maneuvering, the updated tractor gets further steering improvement, now with a 50 percent bigger set of hydraulic components within the 7R’s steering system. This provides increased steering capacity and even better maneuverability for operators using heavy front implements or even just larger front tires.

With the upgrade, the 7R is better able to use and operate triple-mounted mower conditioners or large square balers, or PTO and hydraulic power.

PTO is Power Take-off, and it transfers power from the tractor to the PTO-driven machine or implements via its connection to a drive shaft from the machinery to the tractor's PTO stub shaft.

The updated 7R has many new options available, including Reactive Steering.
With the Reactive Steering mode, John Deere said that on the road the 7R will perform and feel like a car. This mode makes it easier to maintain a straight line—no fighting the steering wheel. This mode also assists the operator to return the vehicle’ steering wheel to a neutral position.

Another option is ActiveCommand Steering 2 which prevents oversteering when a quick operator action is required. IE, a lighter touch.

For those seeking a dynamic tire pressure option, Deere and partner PTG offer a central tire inflation system that will allow the vehicle to switch up and down as required with a higher tire pressure on the road, and a lower pressure for fieldwork.

The updated 7R is available on eight of the John Deere models featuring 250- to 350-rated horsepower engines.
