A Canadian ag organization is in a transition period as it searches for new permanent leadership.

Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) is seeking a new executive director after Erin Gowriluk departed the organization after five years.

She is the new president of the Canada Grains Council.

“Erin has been a tireless advocate for Canadian grain farmers, and her leadership has been instrumental in advancing the interests of our members,” Andre Harpe, chair of the GGC, said in an April 18 statement. “We wish her all the best in her new role.”

GGC has established a hiring committee to oversee the process of finding a new executive director.

GGC also named its interim leadership.

Tyler Bjornson & Associates will lead the organization until a new permanent executive director comes on board.

In an interesting note, Gowriluk is replacing Bjornson as president of the Canada Grains Council.

Bjornson’s industry experience also includes acting as vice president of the Canola Council of Canada for nearly three years and spending two years as the director of transformation with Viterra.

Bjornson will be able to provide the necessary leadership as GGC looks for a permanent replacement.

“Tyler and his team have a proven track record of providing strong leadership during transition periods, and we are confident in their ability to continue advancing the interests of our members,” Harpe said.

GGC will share job posting information online and on social media when it becomes available.
