The PSC revoked Hansen-Mueller’s licence in late October following an inspection.
The PSC found on Oct. 23 that the company “was alleged to be in violation of Neb. Rev. Stat § 75-903.01(2) and 291 Neb. Admin. Code §8-003.09 for failing to make payment on demand,” the Oct. 24 statement says.
At the time, Hansen-Mueller owed about $2 million to farmers, Nebraska Public Media reported.
The grain company took swift action to make the payments.
The week of Oct. 27 saw the company issuing payments electronically and mailing checks.
“Our top priority was making sure these debs were paid during this crucial time in the harvest season, and we’re pleased that the company has already begun issuing the outstanding funds,” Tim Schram, commissioner of the PSC, said in a statement.
