CGC issues license to Prairie Ag Commodity Trading Inc.

The company sources ag commodities with a focus on feed grade cereals

The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) issued a license to a Saskatchewan company on July 22.

Prairie Ag Commodity Trading Inc. (PACT) in Saskatoon received a grain dealer license that day, the CGC’s website says.

The CGC defines this kind of license as “a person who, for reward, on his own behalf or on the behalf of another person, deals in or handles western grain.”

PACT sources ag commodities in Western Canada and the northern U.S.

The company focuses on feed grade cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and by-products, its website states.

In addition to PACT receiving its new license, some grain companies underwent CGC license changes dating back to the end of June.

As of June 30, The Redwood Commodities Group ULC in Vancouver, B.C., and The Redwood Group, LLCC, from Mission, Kan., are classified as “gran dealer licence no longer held.”

On that same date, Croft Grain Ltd. in Melfort, Sask., had a license change too.

The company switched from a primary elevator license to a process elevator license.

A primary elevator license goes to “an operator of an elevator which primary receives grain directly from producers, for either both storage or forwarding.”

And a process elevator license “may be issued to an operator of an elevator which receives and stores grain for direct manufacture or processing into other products.”
