A new website showcasing Canadian beef research news has been announced by the Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) called – BeefResearch.ca. This website will be a dynamic source for both news and information and will provide an informational hub for all types of beef cattle operations including, cow-calf producers, feedlots, veterinarians, meat packers and researchers. This site will allow stakeholders and those interested in keeping up-to-date on the latest news and information relating to Canadian beef research. The site has a number of notable features including an outline of the industry’s research priorities and objectives, information on various research topics and technical fact sheets generated from research projects. Not only will the site allow one to access all the trending beef research but it will also include the BCRC Blog that will connect the dots between the latest research findings and applicable to the industry. The blog will be the leading arena for researchers and industry experts to provide commentary on the latest research developments. The site is user friendly and allows users to subscribe for email blog updates and provides a forum for discussion. The new site initiative is a part of BCRC’s strategy to work towards improving technology transfer and knowledge to the beef cattle industry. The initiative is made possible through the federal government’s Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Beef Cattle Science Cluster. In addition to government funding BCRC is also funding partially through a producer-paid national levy. The BCRC operated as a division of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association.
