“The Government of Canada is committed to the Food Policy’s vision that all people in Canada are able to access a sufficient amount of safe, nutritious and culturally diverse food, and that Canada’s food system is resilient and innovative, sustains our environment and supports our economy,” Bibeau said in a July 6 statement. “It is essential that diverse perspectives are at the table, to help address current and emerging challenges and opportunities across Canada’s food systems.”
Current members include Mary Robinson, a farmer and former president of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, Heather Deck, a dietitian from Saskatchewan and Evan Fraser, director of the Arrell Food Institute at the University of Guelph.
Interested people must apply for a spot on the council.
The application window closes on August 17.
