LEAVEN Award 2024 Recognizes Two Women Leaders

The 2024 American Agri-Women (AAW) National Convention marked its 50th anniversary by honoring two outstanding women with the prestigious LEAVEN Award. The LEAVEN Award is given to individuals who have played a significant role in uplifting and advancing agriculture through their leadership and dedication. This year’s recipients, Sara Reid Herman and Marie Bowers, exemplify these qualities.

Marie Bowers

A fifth-generation grass seed farmer from Oregon, Marie Bowers is a passionate advocate for agriculture. Her leadership extends beyond her farm, with roles such as the Vital Issues Chair for AAW and past president of Oregon Women for Agriculture. She has also served on the board of the AgChat Foundation, empowering farmers and ranchers to amplify their voices on social media. Marie’s commitment to agriculture advocacy and mentorship has made a lasting impact on the industry.

Sara Reid Herman

Sara Reid Herman brings expertise in corporate finance, particularly in agriculture lending and leadership development. Her ability to structure complex transactions and foster relationships has made her a key figure in agriculture finance. Sara also contributes to the AAW Road to Influence Program, helping guide future leaders in the industry. Her leadership and problem-solving skills have been crucial in advancing agricultural finance.

Both women have demonstrated exceptional leadership, advocacy, and mentorship, making them well-deserving of the 2024 LEAVEN Award. Their contributions to agriculture and commitment to empowering others serve as a true inspiration to the industry.
