Livestock Scales
Livestock sales are a useful tool to weigh animals in any farming operation. Typically, livestock scales are only used to weigh larger farm animals like cattle, horses, sheep and pigs. Weighing scales are important for veterinary use and preparing animals for market sale. It's highly recommended that producers buy livestock scales that are water-resistant which will help prevent corrosion due to animal waste or rain.
Some factors to consider when purchasing a livestock scale include: pen-like scales (which are ideal for weighing animals that are difficult to manage) or a rectangular or square scales (which are great for weighing bigger/heavier animals). Pen-type livestock scales can come in handy for many purposes like vaccinating animals in addition to weighing them. A pen-type scale is also very easy to use and displays the weight on an LCD screen. The only down side to this type of scale is that it's not suitable for heavier animals. Rectangular or square livestock scales also known as "flat livestock scale" can handle bigger and heavier animals. The only downside of this type of scale is that it doesn't have the ability to confine the animal, so it makes it difficult to determine the accurate weight of the animal.
