Challenger Tractors
The brand Challenger® is recognized around the world and known for its quality, reliability and technological advancements. In 1986, Challenger created a tractor that was the world's first tractor to be rubber tracked, which was created by Caterpillar Inc. The brand was acquired by AGCO in 2002 and since then, Challenger tractors have been manufactured in Jackson, Minnesota. AGCO's purchase of the brand shifted market focus from a predominantly construction market to more of an agricultural focus. While this shift has taken place, Challenger still offers machinery that is geared towards the construction industry in addition to its enhanced agricultural focus. Challenger now offers both tracked and wheeled type tractors. Since 2002, Challenger has used diesel engines in the majority of their tractor models. However, with the introduction of the D series, AGCO has been putting in Tier 4i/Stage 3B for emission compliance. This is a Selective Catalytic Reduction system which mitigates reduced nitrogen oxides that would otherwise be emitted into the atmosphere.
The current tractor model series offerings from Challenger include: MT400B, MT500D, MT600D, MT700D, MT800C, and MT900C.
