The USDA released the weekly Crop Progress Report on Monday.
Some of the highlights of the report include:
U.S. corn and soybean planting and development remain slightly ahead of average.
As of Sunday, the USDA says 86% of corn is planted, compared to the five year average of 85% but behind a year ago because of weather related delays in some key growing areas. Minnesota is in the lead at 98%, followed by Missouri and Tennessee at 97%. 60% of corn has emerged, compared to 55% typically this time of year.
56% of soybeans are planted, compared to 52% on average, but also slower than 2015 because of weather. Minnesota leads the U.S. at 86% complete. 22% of soybeans have emerged, compared to the usual pace of 21%.
62% of winter wheat is rated good to excellent and 75% has headed.
95% of spring wheat is planted and 78% has emerged, both way ahead of normal, and in the first rating of the season, 76% is rated good to excellent.
64% of pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, up 1% on the week.
