Talking Chicken with the Hon. Karina Gould

BURLINGTON, ON – The Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of International Development and MP for Burlington, visited the Chicken Farmers of Ontario (CFO) office to discuss issues important to Ontario’s chicken industry.
 
“Today was an excellent opportunity to update Minister Gould on recent successes and achievements in Ontario’s chicken industry, as well as to share our vision for creating value and building the future of the industry, together with government,” said Ed Benjamins, Chair of Chicken Farmers of Ontario. “We were pleased to be able to share our perspectives with Minister Gould, specifically around trade, closing import control loopholes, and our commitments to on-farm food safety and animal care standards.”
 
CFO, in alignment with the Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC), has a strong track record of working the federal government and demonstrating leadership in the chicken industry, supply management sector, and in agriculture.

First elected in 2015, the Honourable Karina Gould represents the riding of Burlington, and was appointed Minister of International Development in November 2019. A graduate of McGill University and the University of Oxford, Minister Gould previously worked as a trade and investment specialist for the Mexican Trade Commission in Toronto, and a consultant for the Migration and Development Program at the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C.
