Significant Improvement in Florida Drought; More Expected

The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that drought has been completely removed from most of Florida. The only piece that remains is a small area on the western end of the Panhandle adjacent to Alabama, which also still has some severe drought near Mobile. Rains over the past week have obliterated the moderate drought that was present in southwest Florida. This week’s rain from TS Cristobal is likely to significantly decrease the remaining drought along the Gulf Coast, which could see several inches of rain over the next week.
