Saskatchewan Crops Are Rated Very Good

Jul 13, 2016
Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart says crops this summer are among the best ever seen.

Stewart says some fields have had too much moisture.

He points to areas in the southwest, around Estevan, Carrot River, and Humboldt as areas with surplus rain.

But generally speaking, crops are looking good.

He says at this stage of pulse crop production, there is anxiety because of the threat of disease from too much moisture.

But crops look lush and he can’t remember on a province-wide basis when crops looked this good.

He adds the moisture will cause delays in haying and field spraying.
