Saskatchewan Changes 2020 AgriStability Deadline

Apr 22, 2020
Saskatchewan is extending the 2020 AgriStability enrollment deadline to July 3rd.

AgriStability is a low-cost risk management program that helps producers who may experience

large margin declines as a result of production loss, adverse market conditions, or increased costs.

Rae Groenveld is Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation’s AgriStability Policy Manager.

He says they are currently working through the program benefits for 2018 participants.

“You may recall that year there were dry conditions throughout a large part of Saskatchewan, which hurt crop production. Then there were some market issues that year as well around lentils and around durum marketing, both of those factors resulted in some significant payments to producers. Right now we're over 110 million dollars paid out to producers for the 2018 program year.”

He notes as producers wrap up their income tax they are encouraged to submit their AgriStability forms for the 2019 year which was also a challenging marketing year for producers, especially around Canola.

Farmers concerned with cash flow can also look at applying for an interim benefit under AgriStability.
