Rail Blockade Chiefs Meet with Government Officials

There is hope that a meeting between government officials and BC chiefs concerned about a new natural gas pipeline in that province, will mean the end of rail blockades across the nation.
 
Those blockades, some of which have lasted 3 weeks, have held Canada's economy hostage. Dozens of ships are waiting off the ports of Vancouver and Prince Rupert and there's also a backlog of more than 20 thousand rail cars.
 
Rick White with the Canola Council says even if the backlogs end today, it will take months to clear that backlog. In the meantime, country elevators are filling up and farmers have no where to take their grain, as they begin to prepare for spring planting.
