Producers Advised to Contact Crop Insurance Office Concerning Crop Damage

Jul 14, 2016
There are a number of crops around the province sitting in water following this week’s heavy rain.

It will take some time to fully evaluate the impact on crops.

For farmers a key concern is the pea and lentil acres, as those crops don’t tolerate the moisture as well as cereals.

Shawn Jaques,President and CEO for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation says that the impact on crops will vary by area.

"Certainly every farm is different and we have been hearing the extent of the damage is different in the different areas. If producers have questions they should contact their local crop insurance office. We have staff that are available to help explain the options to them and our staff would be able to walk them through what their insurance options are."

Jaques, adds that producers have a couple of options to think about.
