Pricing Transparency Maps

Nov 23, 2015
The Farmers’ Advocate Office (FAO) has made a change to the way landowners can submit information on their surface lease, transmission line, seismic, and pipeline right of way agreements for the Pricing Transparency Maps.

The Pricing Transparency Maps will be a resource for landowners negotiating with energy companies. “Many landowners who are new to the energy and utility sectors call our office to ask what’s normal for compensation in their part of the province,” says Jeana Les, research and communications specialist for the FAO. “The Pricing Transparency Maps will make this information available to landowners.”

Les says that, while the concept behind the maps is still the same, the way the data is being collected has changed. “Initially, we had been collecting copies of the agreements themselves. Now, we’ve created a form where people can fill in their details. These forms can be completed on-line and e-mailed to me, or they can be send by conventional mail or faxed.”
