Manitoba's potato harvest is slowly getting underway.
Vikram Bisht is with Manitoba Agriculture.
"Some direct haul has started," he said. "Probably about a few hundred acres, maybe 500 acres worth of direct haul into the processing plants. The growers are getting ready to harvest. The fresh may be harvested a bit, seed crop has been top-killed in most cases."
Bisht says some of the potatoes are a bit smaller than last year, however he notes there are still a few weeks left before they need to be dug up.
