Philippine pork production is forecast to reach 1 million MT in 2023 as commercial pork producers plan to raise larger pigs. This would represent an 8% increase from 2022 (925,000 MT) as production was reduced due to African swine fever outbreaks.
Pork imports, meanwhile, are forecast to increase 4% from last year to reach 600,000 MT in response to lower tariffs that have been extended through December 31, 2023. Imports in 2022 were an estimated 575,000 MT.
