NRCS Offers Disaster Assistance to Producers in Warren County Impacted by July Storm
Jul 31, 2023

Warren County, New Jersey agricultural producers who have been significantly impacted by the severe rain event that occurred July 15 through July 16, 2023, may be eligible for technical and financial assistance to aid in recovery efforts through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Impacted producers should contact the Hackettstown Service Center to report damages and learn more about program options available to assist in their recovery from land, infrastructure and other conservation-related damages. Applications must be received by September 15, 2023 to be eligible for funding.

“NRCS stands ready to play a vital role in supporting the recovery efforts of Warren County producers, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that the affected operations receive the support they need,” said Acting State Conservationist Evan Madlinger.

Through EQIP, NRCS can provide assistance to repair and prevent the excessive soil erosion caused or impacted by natural disasters. These practices include activities like stream bank restoration, grassed waterways and buffers. Basically, any practice that is needed to address an approved resource concern may be eligible. This may include new practices or repairing a failed practice from a previous EQIP contract. Producers may also be able to add a practice to their existing EQIP contract through a modification.
